MAY CHOICE RESULTS: FEEEEEELINGS

Based on the results of everyone’s last Choice, Emotional Healing was prioritized. The past storms that have rocked Avis Isle had left their mark, but with the fundraising efforts of hanami bingo, substantial repairs have been completed! Overall, there was a focus on emotional healing; the morale around town is at an all-time high, there are sales at every kiosk, and a bonus status effect of Spring Cheer is granted to all adventurers: mana exchange is extra effective this month, and you might find yourself a little touchy-feely. For good reason! In addition to generating mana, skin-to-skin contact will cause characters to feel emotionally healed somewhat as well. Take some time to recover from those inner wounds.

Meanwhile, structural healing was the least prioritized, meaning buildings around town are in less than spectacular condition. Watch your step, because those stairs you're on might collapse – and it looks like even Dodo House is feeling these ill effects! Rooms are leaking, food is less readily available, some sheets are weirdly itchy, your bed might break, and the walls between your suites may just degrade and collapse without notice… oops? Any major inconvenience you might imagine from a creaky home is fair game!

LIMITED EVENT REWARDS:

As detailed in last month’s event, everyone who partook in Hanami Bingo received a special token which grants mastery over one power of any element.

ON & OFF WORLD: A LITTLE GLITCHY

That said, not all seems to be well in paradise. Those who have been in Duocaeli for a little longer might begin to notice that the aches and pains of all your ON world traveling seem to linger with you even as you begin to enter the OFF world. For those who get into more serious scrapes, injuries also seem to linger, less grievous but still present. There’s no simple escape any longer.

In the ON world, Avisle's storm has fully cleared as of last month, but something lingers in its usually beautiful skies. Not enough to obstruct trade, not quite, though those steering their airships in may grumble a bit about the turbulence. Ash flutters in the air, clouds are replaced with dark plumes of smoke; it gets harder to breathe in a game where that shouldn't matter, and there's a strangely luminescent sheen in the sky, like the scales of a beast.

In the OFF world, there are smoke warnings… even when Crane City is set upon an island, it seems the air from distant lands is rolling in. If you look out into the gray sky and seas, they shimmer with an unknown something slithering within the misty smoke and water. Occasionally, something will break above the surface–two golden, serpent-like eyes, watching. Waiting.

ON WORLD: WARS YOUR GUILDS

Every year, the Guilds of Duocaeli have a friendly competition for bragging rights (and prizes)–will you tackle it with brute force Warriors Style, fashion a new invention a la Crafters, or try think your way through like the Scholars? Better put your heads together with your fellow Guildees and see what you can do!

While there are various components to earn points in Guild Wars, the biggest one is helping a family of golems, where players will be able to submit ideas on ways to assist them. Some small cross-Guild collaboration can be encouraged, but be warned - the reward will be halved if more than one Guild member tosses in an idea!

Guild Wars Submissions can be entered here! Same deadline as Event Choice: Friday, June 30th at 8:55 PM PST/11:55 PM EST.

OOC Note: Due to the current distribution of characters, the Wanderer + Mender Guilds will be combined (Golden Pigeon), and the Warriors + Scholars Guilds as well (Silvergoose).

Description & Picture of Flora/Fauna: D and Roland picked out some bioluminescent plants, a little fox creature, and some birds over in the crater.

The bioluminescent plants, Star Fungi, hang on the rocks of the ground and spires and alternate their glow based on chemicals they release, making it seem as if they are winking on and off like stars. These innocuous plants are a magical sight in the dark ecosystem where they grow.

The skittish Moss Fox has acclimated its eyes to living in the darker regions of the underground, and neither male nor female grow to be very big. Their coats are made up of bark and moss, providing them with extremely good camouflage when they are still against both predators and prey.

Crater Vultures feed on the fungi and the dead below their spire homes. Their nests are tucked in crags near the tops of the spires, making it easy for them to reach the skies. They are social birds, preferring to stay in family collectives and nesting neighborhoods in order to take care of their young.

Wow!

- He'll be thriving doing repairs around the Dodo house; he doesn't look like the carpenter type but he's more than capable if you want a quick casual meet & greet situation or something.

- GUILD WARS. HE'S GOING TO BE SO INTO HYRULE ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS FOR THESE KOROKS GOLEMS. He is affiliated with fire so I'm seriously considering letting him figure out he can molten-glue/weld or you know, fuse, things together.
- Most interested in approaching the Dandelion Fields with another crafter of earth or maybe wind? I have an idea!

- Open to buddying up with someone with a light/dark element and exploring the starstuff crater. He could be supportive in this situation.

- DUNGEON CRAWL, super interested in it! He will struggle with the first bit though! His home is a port city and he would need little convincing to believe he is seeing his beloved Ferrymen drowning. He'll run into the water like an emotionally compromised idiot, and he will very desperately try to convince you to come in too. THEY'RE DROWNING, WHY AREN'T YOU HELPING!?

- for CHOICE I'm thinking he's going to DENY unless the serpent feels like being more specific re: whomst is waiting. That said, Bricks is pretty susceptible to feelings of guilt, inadequacy, and betrayal. He'll need to go into this fight with someone who has a lot of emotional fortitude or trust with him and can keep him on his feet. OTHERWISE... HE'LL BE USELESS, and possibly agree to the serpent's request after taking some emotional damage™. I'm open to playing out a Failed Quest situation!
- Alternatively if you want better odds for success and your character is the one being asked/struggling, he can definitely help with mana-transfers. He isn't going to think twice about close contact in a desperate situation... but he could be awkward about it afterwards.

- so yes he will be accepting the Serpent's offer as he is a) dumb b) a desperate child and c) extremely concerned about his Father and friends!!!! I would prefer for this not to be prevented so you can either witness his folly or deal with the aftermath in the OFF world, which will be miserable and messy. How messy depends on the answer I get over here, but either way he's going to be devastated. It plays pretty perfectly into how he keeps fucking everything up and how he's fated to suffer exponentially for every mistake, and also how he can't reach either his father or friends when they need him the most. Prefer a sympathetic ear for this but I'm also game if you want to kick him while he's down :')
-OTHER THAN THAT smoke! He does not actually breathe, so surprise! Pinocchio is in a prime position to help those affected by smoke. Let him use his magic to aid you in your hour of need.
- GUILD WARS, hell yeah let's do this thing. Flora/Fauna discovery, Dungeons, Explorations, and maybe even sportsball? He loves a good time more than anything, this sounds like a blast.
- In non-event specific things, Pinocchio will also be attempting to research about the nature of this world. He's now aware that his and his friends stories exist in this world and it's made him paranoid about what that means for his presence there. Open to straight up investigation within Dodo via the Astronomy Tower/Library, testing borders of the online/offline world, or simply discussing philosophy/logistics/character backstories with people. 4th walling is a unique situation within his canon, he already knows what he is and he's fighting to regain control of his fate against forces both within and outside of his story. Could lead to some fun introspection!

In the case of the former, she'll probably hear the siren call of her dead biological parents... wouldn't that be such an awful time to be inflicted with haunting fey laughter also..??. But ultimately she'll want to deny the serpent and fight it while having to overcome all the feelings!

What about off-world stuff with her injuries carrying over? Pinocchio hasn't got anything in the way of healing magic but he'd still try to help her out. Plans:
- Knives will be all in on the Guilds Wars stuff because he's not about to lose in a situation like this if he has anything to say about it. He is part of the Warriors guild, so he'll be willing to team up with anyone in that guild or any of the Scholars to get tasks done. This includes the gemwalker reunion (he would gravitate toward the Windhaven Woodlands task), exploration stuff (the starstuff crater would be particularly fun since he has the light element affinity and will therefore feel NOT GREAT), and so on. I am down to team up for flora/fauna creation as well!

- Also wanting to do the dungeon crawl! While Vash and Knives will be going together because we want to make their lives awful, we'd love to have a third member if anyone can tolerate these two disaster twins. I would promise that they'll be well-behaved but that would be a lie.

- I am up for any and all shenanigans around Dodo House with stuff not functioning or falling apart, etc. SOUNDS LIKE FUN.

- The whole mana transfer thing and feeling touchy feely is hilarious. Knives needs emotional healing, lbr, but it's not like he would ask for it. If he finds himself accidentally touching someone's shoulder or something, he'll be horrified. Good times.

Plans: - I recently canon-updated Kaveh, so he will be dealing with the onslaught of new memories!! Ironically those memories involved canonical guild wars and Some Guy getting into his head so he's truly just coming back to this like NOT AGAIN
- he's also very upset about all the buildings and the dorm. PLEASE!!!! He will absolutely be working himself to the bone trying to do repairs and maintenance, levels of success yet to be determined based on mod response but either way he will be. Exhausting himself trying to fix as much as possible
- he's also going to be all about the gemwalker reunion plan!! LET HIM BUILD THINGS he's a genius architect and engineer it's right up his alley.
- He will be denying the serpent's request!! I have roped sweet Jan Janson into tackling this one with me so I will proooobably not do it again?? maybe once or twice more at the very most but he's also gonna get stabbed/possibly die oops and this month is Off World Ouchies Month so even though he'll be mostly fine, between the stabbing and the spooky headjacking it'll probably put him off tackling the snake too often. (Chamber 1 is fair game though!)
- uhhhh he has no defense against smoke inhalation so he'll just suffer like those of us in the PNW during summer ig
- I'm down for exploring new areas!! I'd also be happy to spitball some ideas for new flora or fauna--I don't have anything off the top of my head but we can totally chat about it hehe

At this point I’m not sure if I’m going to be topleveling on the post or not. He already has a semi-open log for the month, so I might just use that. I am of course happy to write starters for folks if anyone wants something specific.

It also looks like he’ll be doing some exploring and helping the gemwalkers with Bricks and Pinocchio?? But I am deffo down for doing more of that!
