announcement: beta testing & feedback

Hello, everyone!

This is an announcement that is based on the results of our informal polling during our Interest Check. Overall, responses indicated flexibility between January and February with a preference for the game to officially start in late February. Thank you so much for your interest and engagement!! After some discussion among the head mods based on their availability and capacity, we’ve decided to create a compromise of a Beta Testing period for a month, with Game Start in late February.

What does that entail?

» Jan 13th, Tutorial and Dungeon Beta Testing: A log will be posted for players to play test and provide feedback on the ON and OFF world introduction tutorials, as well as the Dungeons system.
» Feb 3rd, Quest and Location Beta Testing: A log will be posted for players to play test and provide feedback on our first Quest Board, and new locations to expand the setting. Reserves will also open, and the Application form will be unlocked.
» Feb 17th, Apps Open: What it says on the tin! Apps will be processed as they come in until Game Start, and players will have access to a(n optional) Permanent AU Plotting Post if you would like to pre-plot OFF World AU connections.
» Feb 23, OOC Plotting Post: Plotting for game open.
» Feb 24th, Official Game Start: What it says on the tin! A combination Arrival Log and Event Mingle will be posted.

During this Beta Testing period, on these logs we would be entering a state of Limited Play with some mechanics not being available until Game Start. Please see the following for Beta Testing conditions!

You can see these dates and more on our Calendar! Though please note exact days are tentative, generally we will have a mod post every (2) weeks once the game officially starts.

» Playing a character on one of our Beta Testing posts is not a character claim or a reserve.
» All players must still have an invitation to play in Beta Testing. Invitations are automatically extended to those who are on the friendslist of Dana ([plurk.com profile] evergrace) and Nu ([plurk.com profile] scythed), and their approved +1s. If you would like to bring a +1, check in with a mod first! At this time, due to interest hovering around cap, we are no longer accepting requests for +1s. They may re-open at a later date!
» A gentle reminder that our cast cap is 5. We actually recommend players use the testing period to see how an assortment of different characters may synergize with the environment! Options are good.
» Threads on Beta Testing will be game canon. IC Explanation will be provided for characters who appear on Beta Testing but aren’t in the world for Game Start.
» IC Inboxes will be disabled. In general, anything that might be on a character’s individual journal will not be game canon, as they are not officially accepted. Please only make threads on the Beta Testing posts game canon!
» Rooming will not be mod assigned. Once the game officially starts, characters will have randomized, assigned rooming in the Dodo House to encourage CR variety, but for the Beta Testing period, you can mix and match roommates on your own as you please! Just know that these set-ups won’t be permanent.
» Players are free to use this post for questions and feedback! Something on one of the posts not clicking for you? Confused by the layout of the world, or some of the mechanics? We’d love to know how to improve and clarify things during this period! Half the purpose of Beta Testing is, much like the actual practice, to help us get a grasp of our scaling, pacing, and style. Thanks so much in advance for your assistance!

As a result, please know aspects of mechanics and setting in Beta Testing may be tweaked before Official Game Start! Following the end of the Beta period, we’ll make a small list of updates (if any) so players know what might change.
